90s Super Model
I loved seeing the Super Models in the 90s I attended makeup school in the 90s so I would study their makeup religiously. Here is a look I designed to encapsulate that time using a variety of different brands.
Starting with foundation, the look had a semi matte finish so try The Dior Air Flash foundation and buff it on with a kabuki brush. You may or may not need any concealer. Dior Air Flash has buildable coverage. Powder well. Next the brows were a big focus in the 90s like they are in present day so fill in the brows with some brown eye shadow and a slanted brow brush. MAC 266 is my favorite brow brush. Apply some MAC Eye Shadow in Shroom to the entire lid from lash line to crease. Next apply some MAC Eye Shadow in Embark to just above the crease and the outer corner. Now start to blend Embark in the direction of the end of the brow using a clean blending brush. This will elongate the eyes. Blend some MAC Eye Shadow in Carbon to the outer corners for give the eyes dimension and continue to apply Carbon to the lower lash line. Tap or stipple on some MAC Eye Shadow in Lyric to the center of each lid to warm up the look. Line the upper lash line with some Dior Show Art Pen and line the lower lid water line with Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in Black. Apply a strip of false lashes for drama and use some Dior Lash Maximizer followed by some Dior Show Over Curl Macara. Sweep some Anna Sui Rose Cheek Colour 300 onto the cheek bones to exaggerate their height. Fill in lips with Anna Sui Lip Crayon 400 and Anna Sui Lip Stick 401 and lock on the colour with some Anna Sui Lip Colour Top Coat.
The final and important part of this fabulous 90s Super Model look is the signature mole. Gently dot some Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in brown to the desired spot and seal the liner on with some MAC Carbon eye shadow. This is the easier way to disguise a blemish in needed to. Now strut down that runway girl…..
New Year Eve Look with Shurpette Lashes
I wore this look on New Years Eve.
I wanted to create something special to go with the Shurpette karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura lashes that was a gift from Dave Lackie. These lashes were so beautiful. They are handmade with pink feathers, rhinestone and a leather strip. If the lashes are a little stiff I wrap them around a pencil for a couple of minutes to loosen the spin of the lash. This will make them more comfortable to wear. I designed this look to complement the lashes not over power them. I applied Dior Star Foundation, concealer and powder will with Shiseido……. Loose powder. Then I contoured with some of my Lancôme bronzer and some MAC Dolly Mix blush. Next I apply some of the soft pink shimmer from MAC Just Gleaming Eye Shadow Duo all over the lids from lash line to crease. Next I applied some of the brown from the MAC duo to the crease and outer corner and blended well. I applied a little more of the brown to the lower lash line with a slanted brush. Next I warmed up the eyes by applying some of MAC Dolly Mix blush to the outer third of each eye and blended everything together. I squeezed a little Duo Lash Adhesive onto a plastic lid from my makeup bag and run the inside of the leather spine of the lashes through the lash adhesive. Then you must wave it around for a few seconds so the lash glue can become sticky. Then I took a deep breath and steadied my arm on a counter top while I applied the lashes. You need to work quickly some the glue doesn’t set but you can manipulate the lashes wants they have been applied. Once the lashes are applied blink of couple of times to make sure they are comfortable. If any lashes are sticking together then use an orange stick to detangle the lashes. There was only one lipstick in my entire lipstick wardrobe that was appropriate to wear with these lashes and only because of its name Pink Flamingo by L’Oreal. To remove lashes you simply pull carefully from the outer corners.
Smoky Eye Version 1 - Great for all eye shapes especailly Hooded Eyes.
Here is an example of one of the first smoky eye variations I ever learnt while attending makeup school. It’s a gradual shift in colour from darkest, near the lash line to lightest near the brow bone. Sometimes it is easier to apply foundation last because the eye shadow dust can fall making a huge mess. I used the Dior Golden Shock Palette for this face chart. I began by applying the dusty pink shade all over the lid from lash line to crease. Next I applied some MAC Plumage all over the lid blending upwards and outward towards the temples. Next taking a slanted brush apply some Plumage to the lower lash line and then apply some of the dusty pink for Dior Golden Shock to soften its harshness. Next apply some of the warm gold shimmer from the Dior Golden Shock Palette to the inner corners of the eyes and high light the brow bone with some of the light pink from the same palette. Line the eyes with some Dior Art Pen, curl lashes and apply a few coats of mascara. Apply your foundation, concealer, and powder and sweep some MAC Dame up the cheek bones. Fill in brows and finish the look with some Anna Sui Lip Crayon 300 and Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer 503.
Smoky Eye Version 2 - Great for all other Eye Shapes
This is a great way to give your eyes a smoky effect that is suitable for almost every eye shape and can be adapted easily to different colours. The key main things to remember are the light colour is on the lid and the dark is in the crease. Apply your foundation, concealer and powder as per usual and fill in your brows using a pencil. Apply some of the light grey from the Dior Golden Reflections Palette all over the lid for lash line to crease. Next apply a little MAC Embark to just higher than the crease and blend well. Next apply some of the dark grey from the Dior Golden Reflections Palette to the outer corner and darken it with some MAC Carbon. Blend everything together well. Next apply some of the MAC Embark and Carbon to the lower lash line using a small slanted brush. Stipple on some of the gold shimmer for the Golden Reflections Palette over the light grey on the lids – the shimmer will draw the eye forward making it appear larger. Line the eyes with your chosen liner, curl lashes and apply a few coats of mascara. Sweep some Dior Rosy Glow up the cheeks and finish the look by lining the lips with some Anna Sui Lip Crayon 300 and Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge 244.
Apply your foundation, concealer and powder. Fill in the brows with MAC eye shadows in the shade Orb and Charcoal Brown using a slanted brush. If you want the blue to be vibrant then apply some of the DIORSHOW Eye Prime to the lids. If you want the colour to be softer then skip the priming step. Apply some of the baby blue eyeshadow from the DIOR Atlantique Palette all over the lids. Next apply some of the navy from the DIOR palette along the lash line and blend up. Apply some of the sea green shade from the DIOR CARRES BLEU palette to the crease and blend up towards the brow bone. Stipple on some MAC Purple Haze onto the lid to add a little dimension. Using a slanted eye shadow brush apply some of the baby blue and navy from the DIOR Atlantique Palette to the lower lash line. Throw on some lashes, mascara and line the water line if you want more drama. Sweep some of the Anna Sui Rose Cheek Colour 301 to the cheek bones and some of the gorgeous Anna Sui Lip Crayon in 400 to the lips.
