2015 BAFTA Inspired Face Charts

The 2015 British BAFTA awards took place today. As I British Expat living in the Canada, I will explain what the BAFTAs actually are. BAFTA stands for British Academy of Film and Television Arts. The purpose according to Wikipedia is to “supports, promotes and develops the art form of the moving image – film, television and video games – by identifying and rewarding excellence inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public” It takes place once a year in London and the President of the BAFTAs is HRH The Duke of Cambridge. It is a very big deal in the UK, the starts walk the red carpet and it is the equivalent to the Oscars. I was the Makeup Designer on a short film that was nominated for a BAFTA about 14 years ago. It wasn’t very popular but did well at the Independent Film Festivals. Anyway, back to the point of this post. I have designed 5 celebrity inspired face charts from today awards.

The makeup mood was full of warm bronzy eyes, nude lips, soft cheeks and a relatively matte complexion.  I did find Felicity Jones star of The Theory of Everything and Lea Seydoux casted as the next Bond Girl in Spectre my favourites. Anyway here are the looks:

BAFTA
Felicity
Felicity Jones

Felicity Jones was my second favourite makeup at the BAFTAs. She wore a rich aubergine eye shadow which looks fabulous on hazel eyes. I recreated this look using DIOR HOUSE OF PINKS eye shadow palette. Her complexion was matte and her brows looked natural. I started this look by applying some of the aubergine shade across the lid. Then I applied some of the mauve brown shimmer to the crease and finished the upper lid with some of the light pink. Next I applied some of the bright pink along the lower lash line and toned it down a little with some of the muted pink shadow. I lined the eyes with some DIORSHOW ART PEN. Finish off the eyes with some DIOR LASH MAXIMIZER and some DIOR OVERCURL MASCARA. Add a hue of colour to the cheeks with some DIOR ROSY GLOW. Apply some DIOR Lip liner in the shade 558 Lili to the lips and fill the lips in completely. Add a touch of gloss to the center of the lips with some DIOR LIP MAXIMIZER

Laura Bailey

When I saw Laura Baily at first I thought she looked magnificent but then when I was her makeup up close she looked kind of angry. Oh well, remember to smile when you are wearing this look. Her foundation was matte and her brows were naturally groomed. I began by applying some MAC Soft Brown eye shadow to the lids then I darkened it up with some MAC Satin Taupe eye shadow. You must blend these shadows together well to get rid on any harsh lines. I applied some MAC Shroom to the brow bone to highlight. Next I applied some DIORSHOW Black KHOL to the upper lash line then upper waterline. Then I did exactly the same to the lower lash line and water line. I softened the lower lash line with some MAC Satin Taupe eye shadow but dotting it on with a slanted brush. Curl lashes and apply some of your favourite mascara. Sweep some ANNA SUI 303 blush up the cheeks. Next apply some of the nude ANNA SUI 300 Lip Crayon to the entire lip and top with the matching ANNA SUI 300 Lipstick

Laura
Lea Seydoux

The next Bond Girl and she looked absolutely fabulous! My favourite look of the night. So simple and elegant using a just a few products. Lea skin was matte and delicate. She was wearing gold eye shadow so I created this look by applying some MAC Nylon to the lids and I darkened up the crease with some MAC Goldmine. Apply some MAC Charcoal Brown to the lower lash line softly so you can hardly see it. Line the eyes thinly using some DIORSHOW ART PEN, curl lashes and apply a few coats of mascara. Sweep some DIOR ROSY GLOW up the cheek bones and finish this look with some ANNA SUI Lip Crayon 400 and the matching ANNA SUI Lip Stick 400

Lea

Keira Knightly

Kiera look was a strong bronzy eyes and a nude lip, her foundation was matte and her brows were exaggerated. You can achieve this look by using a combination of brow powders and a brow pencil.  I used Clarins Garden Escape Palette and some MAC eye shadows to design this look. I applied some of the brown from the Clarins palette onto the lid and blended up. Next I applied some of the medium pink shade from the Clarins palette to the top of the brown, just above the crease. Next I warmed up the lash line with some MAC Charcoal Brown. I continued the shadows onto the lower lash line smudging the brown and pink along. I lined gently with DiorShow Art Pen along the top lash line, curl lashes and apply a few coats of MAC Black Extreme Mascara. As a soft hue of colour to the cheeks with some ANNA SUI 303 Blush and finish the look off with some YSL Gloss Volupte 210.

Hayley Atwell

I think she was in Captain America. She had the entire bronzy eyes, nude lips look happening with matte foundation! For this look I applied some of the CLARINS Ombre Matte 02 Nude Pink all over the eye lids from lash line to just above the crease. Next I applied some of NARS Lola Lola all over the lid concentrating the colour at the lash line. Next apply some of NARS Lola Lola to the lower lash line and smudge it alone. I darkened up the upper and lower lash line with some MAC Stubborn Brown Eye Liner. Curl lashes and apply a few coats of MAC EXTREME MASCARA. Apply some Anna Sui 303 Blush to the cheeks and finish the look by applying some of the Anna Sui 701 Lip Crayon and topping it with some Anna Sui Lipstick 301.
